Mika
Breast Cancer is not my story to tell. I don't live with the struggles of it, but my Dear friend Mika does. I have known Mika since she was in high school, my daughter Kirsten's best-friend. This is Mika's second bout with breast cancer.
Yesterday she drove up from LA (about 100 miles south of me) for her henna 'hat', I did this for her the last time she went through this. She walked in with her newly shaven head a bit crest-fallen. Tomorrow she goes back to classes (she's going for her 2nd Masters) and wanted to go back with a head that didn't scream "I'm sick".
She sat, we talked, and talked, and I henna'd and henna'd and this was the end result.
The smile you see in this shot was not there when she arrived, she looked in the mirror and LOVED her henna'd head, she looked forward to the comments, most people who see a post chemo head don't comment, but a henna'd head....as Mika put it, she's a walking work of art...
I love you Mika!
